>>1144847Oh, no it isn't an Amanita. It does share the white gills and presence of a ring, the major difference is that it doesn't have a volva, as shown in this diagram. (the universal veil that encloses it as an "egg" when young)
Like I mentioned, the lack of a volva at the base of the stem, and red staining are both enough to let you know it is edible. I do ID's on a professional level and can make up distinguishing features to look for pretty well.

>>1144858Oh geeze, if you are in America, I would have to say this is probably Amanita phalloides, the death cap. Better photos with realistic color would be necessary for ID though.
