I premise I'm not an /out/ person, I came here to ask about bottles to fellow autistic people.
I love water. I want a mid-sized bottle to carry in my bag while taking walks outside. The one I'm using right now is a 2 dollar, #7 plastic one made in Portugal, I have no idea if it's BPA-free or the plastic laws in Portugal. It doesn't leak and it's light but it's starting to wear out and it's getting harder to clean. I love steel shit, steel is long-lasting, etc.
1)Is the BPA/plastic shit a meme?
2)Are steel bottles worth it economically? Do they still have limited life like plastic ones? I hear plastic caps break and you have to replace them and other shit. If I buy this I want it to be a one-time expense.
3)Does the double-walled insulation stuff actually work or is single-wall just the same? I don't want icy water in the desert but if I can keep it decently cool on a hot day it's a plus.
3)Do steel bottles leak? Literally none of the plastic bottles I used ever leaked but it's a common complaint on amazon with steel bottles, even the most expensive bottles except hydromeme get lots of complaints about leaking.
4) Can you easily buy replacement gaskets for these bottles or do you have to periodically spend 15$ for a piece of silicone?
For the time being I'm eyeing a "Laken" brand that makes all-steel, single-walled bottles made in Spain below 20 bucks. No sports cap that gets impossible to clean, I want a plain bottle with a cap. But there are few reviews on the bottles and the thermos reviews say they leak. While browsing this shit I constantly feel I'm being astroturfed. You just need one review talking about rust to drive away all customers and direct them to the popular brand.
Hydroflask makes me laugh with those prices.
So my options are, buy the literally who spanish brand, buy a basic Klean Kanteen, buy a Nalgene and replace it periodically.
I feel like this has taken way too much time and research on my end, so please spoonfeed me.
