>>2007038Good thread anon. Cancer got my dad at the end of last summer and it basically stopped him getting /out/ for a good few years before that. To be honest he didn't really teach me many practical outskills, most of that came from my brother after he left the army, but my dad did leave me with an appreciation of the outdoors, and he taught me all the different native bird species, and how to tell the difference between animal tracks.
One skill he did teach me was how to read a map with a compass correctly, which is pretty invaluable. He also taught me how to plan my journeys properly.
