>>254916 here....In that kind of weather, with this kind of pre-pre-spawn behavior, you may want to try jigging a 1/2 oz spoon. The size will help you get some great distance on your cast. Also, since you are on a shore, and are having a hard time reaching the deeps, you may want to switch over to a braided line. There is zero line memory, it is super resistant, if not immune, to the common abrasion that destroys monofilament. I know that probably sounds super simple and stupid, but I have had tons of luck with this as well. All I do is lift the tip of my rod slowly from the water (post cast) to about 80 degrees away from a level rod position, then drop your rod back to the water. Use this action slowly. make sure to real in the slack as you let your rod tip down. The spoon will make a fluttering action in the water, creating the look of an injured minnow, all fish love this. Using the half oz size is more conducive to bass fishing, though this technique will smaller forms of the lure is great for crappy as well.
