>>2605025first carp I ever caught was on worm
>>2604851look up hair rigs. I use a swivel and a leader. On the leader I tie the hook on with a snell knot. But the running end of the line that comes out the bottom of the snell knot, leave it like 4 or 5 inches long and tie it into a figure 8 on a bite knot. You take your corn and bread and thread it onto a straightened hook. You take the barb of the straightened baiting hook and hook it on the figure 8 loop you tied. Pull away from the rig so there's pressure on it and everythings held tight, then slide the bait over on to the line. Then when you've got a sufficient amount of bait threaded on, take a small twig about 1 cm - 2 cm long and stick it through the figure eight loop. Pull the last piece of bait down on to your twig bait stop. Now all of your bait is actually on the hair, not on the hook. You can put a piece of corn or a little bread on the hook if you want. But the point is, adult carp can be very tackle shy. It's easy to catch up to a 10-15 lbs carp. But it's very hard to break into the 20 and 30 pound ranges because carp once they fully mature, are very smart and have all but completely mastered their ecosystem. So you gotta trick them when you can. Bread, corn, even garbonzo beans like this anon said work really well

you're gonna catch some big fish anon. Remember that carp have soft mouths and fight very very hard. Make sure you have your drag set appropriately and don't use a hook too big to fit in their mouth. Sometimes carp can bite really really softly when they're inactive, but when they're active they WILL yank your pole straight into the water. So keep on eye on that line.
