>>358074...and on to my report (only got to fish yesterday):
Things I caught: a soaking in the early rain, a sunburn midday when the clouds parted, and a single tiny bluegill. I did pull two yellow perch and two small largemouth to the boat and they all shook the hook as I was going to lift them. I think it might've been Bill Dance that said if you touch'em it counts so I'll call those catches too.
My pops has been having a great (just shy of awesome) year. We've both had some really nice fish but a few of his have been just shy of citation size including this crappie that was only 1.75" short. Could've been two dinner-plate fillets but we mostly catch'n'release so this one went on to be caught another day. I'd be happier for him if he could have some citations for the photo album but he's been having a lot of fun and that's what counts.
Other than all that it has been a fairly uneventful weekend. Sizeable yellow perch are still biting nicely in the little bays and creeks off the Potomac. The previous weekend we saw a massive snakehead surface twice before settling back in the mud. Threw everything but the trolling motor at it and couldn't get it to bite unfortunately. Maryland has citations for those now too (30" or better). Maybe next time.
