Today, I went fishing at an old Girl Scout camp. It was a fairly small section of creek but not tiny. The lower section was silt, but very quickly, it becomes rocky. There were vertical walls, shallow sections, riffles, and deep pools. I found brown trout all over. I didn't see any redds, though, and I was looking for them too. I think the habitat was too bouldery for beds.
I took my spinning gear, marking the first time I've done that for wild trout this year. I had many follows and misses. I made sure my hooks were sharp and not bent out. I think the problem was with the angle of attack, rod sensitivity, and my skill. This was a fun outing, and if I wake up early enough, I can get some fishing in before I have to go to work.
>Pic rel. First wild brown I've ever eaten. Kind of burnt the fillets. My fillet job was shit because I was using the dullest knife I have ever encountered. This was one step above butter knife.
