Ann Arbor fag here. There's not a ton to do down south, but the further north you go in the state, the more "remote" it gets. The dunes all up the northern west coast are amazing. In the UP, it's pretty much coniferous as far as the eye can see. Hiawatha National Forest is pretty awesome. Just got back from a trip to see Pictured Rocks near Munising and Tahquamenon Falls. They were both very cool.
Not the best state for /out/ing, but there are some pretty nice views.
