Whole-sprouted-tomato anon (

I kept all the sprouts watered and outside in the shade, and they all died eventually. The one coming out of the tomato and one of the single sprouts lived longest, but eventually they died as well. Maybe the transplants died from the trauma of being pulled out of the tomato and the one I left in died because the tomato started to rot/mold or something, I don't know.
However, after everything looked dead, a single one of the pots did produce three healthy-looking seedlings. I believe this is the pot that I put the chunk of tomato into, and I'm pretty sure these only grew so well because they weren't already sprouted when I removed the chunk from the tomato and put it in the soil.
I'd like to continue cultivating these. How do I know when they're big enough to put into a large pot? Is it that time already?
Also, I suspect three separate tomato plants can't exist that close together. Is there any hope of separating them into their own pots, or do I just have to kill whichever two aren't growing so well after a while and leave the best one alive? One of the two taller ones is already kind of loose/wobbly when I tilt the pot, which I found strange. It's not limp, it's like the base of it isn't secured or something.
