While a twig snapper's not necessary, it does make breaking lots of twigs easier for a uniform size fuel for a hobo stove.
Why not just choppy chop-chop them? Breaking the twigs is less messy, and the twigs don't go flying six feet in all directions when you snap them off. Of course it does beg the argument of why a pair of pruning shears wouldn't be a more fitting tool for the job. IDK.
