You can use a hammock instead of a tent but getting a good one will probably run you 60-100 dollars, the only problem is that they're kinda cold so if the nights are chilly you'll want to invest in an underquilt and overquilt. Bring a poncho in case it rains, and an emergency blanket as they practically weigh nothing. Bring more food then you'll need, brown rice is what I mainly use as it doesn't stick as much. A cast iron skillet is the most reliable type of cooking wear you'll have but it's heavy as shit, like the other anon said id suggest buying a cheap aluminum pan and work your way up.
