>>691613It's a hell of a choke point that really restricts the area that the water has to flow through, so it ends moving much faster in that area. From what I've heard and read, it makes for a really rough trip to get from Florida to the Bahamas in a small boat, especially in a deep keeled vessel like a sailboat.
