This seems like a good place to ask. I plan on moving from New York to Alaska by the end of the year. The cheapest option for me to move is driving there, about 4300 miles, because otherwise id have to ship my car. It will take me 6 or 7 days, driving 10+ hours a day, and 16 full tanks of gas (253 gallons) to arrive. Pic related is the general route I would be taking.
Its been awhile since I've gone /out/, but I thought it might be cool to do some stuff on my journey and take the scenic route. This is what I have, including the stuff I will be moving with.
>Ford Escape 2009
>Medium sized matress that fits in the trunk with seats down
>Waterproof, lockable storage unit with all my worldly possesions (including clothes)
>2x worn winter weather sleeping bags, 1 compact
>1x worn out shitty air bed
>a dull axe
>a tacticool shovel with a short handle
>large tarp
>basic first aid kit
>assorted water purification supplies
>assorted bandanas/cloth (firestarter?)
>mess kit
>small pocket knife
>4 MREs that expire in 2032
Most of this is stuff I recently found in my garage and hasnt seen use for years. A lot of useless tacticool stuff and larp gear is excluded, like a surplus army stuff. I was thinking I would want to take extra gallons of gas with me, enough to get me to the nearest gas station, and enough water to last me a couple of days at least. Some preservable food would also be good to have.
Besides food, water, emergency fuel, and basic stuff for daily needs, what would I need for this trip? Any recommendations for places to see on my way? I think it would be a good idea to have something I could use to call for help without phone service, and maybe a gun, but Im not sure I would be allowed to bring a gun over the border (twice). I would have to hide it, and im not sure if that would work, even though im kinda worried about being unarmed and alone camping out of my car.
