I will repair a rod that lost the insert for the eyelet, and I will replace the spring on a bail for a reel.
In the past I replaced the graphite body of my shimano caenan baitcaster. The part that goes into the but section cracked and replacing it was about 30 bucks which was well worthwhile. Turns out you really need a heavier baitcaster for throwing heavy line and hauling heavy clumps of grass otherwise the baitcaster will try to rip itself off the rod but again that's something I learned from trial and error.
