>>112489thanks for the advice.
i stopped about 3 miles in and took the boots off to assess the damage. the blisters were already broken and the skin was very erythematous and raw. i only had small band-aids on hand so i dressed the wounds with them, but they did nothing to stop the pain.
i finished the hike like that and just did my best to ignore the pain. i guess i probably should have just turned back. barefoot was not an option due to sharp rocks. i won't be hiking again for at least another week. i'll bring along some thicker dressings and better socks next time.
does the type of boot really matter? i was wearing the boots in the picture but they weren't completely broken in. i'd rather not have to buy another pair of hiking specific boots.
