Mosquitoes can bite through any type of knit fabric. It doesn’t matter the material type. I’ve been bitten through thin, casual cotton jackets and sweatshirts often. One of the first links you find on Google says denim offers protection, which is flat out wrong. Nylon doesn’t matter either; I’ve been bitten through a hammock.
Woven fabrics are key if you’re not using permethrin for whatever reason. This is what mosquito shirts are. They work well, but are too thick and no breathable enough outside of “winter” in Louisiana.
