>>2236473>>2236367Resident bird dog nerd here and feel like sperging out since someone showed a mild degree of interest in something. Brittanys are the smallest of the pointing breeds and come from France. They were originally poachers dogs from the days when only nobility were allowed to hunt. Long story short the local lords setters got frisky in the wood line with some local farm dogs. Farmers would take them out to point and net birds at night. Nowadays there’s a split between the taller and leggier American lines than the French ones. The Americans tend to have a more solid white/orange or white/liver coloring like based Brit anons dog and range out more. The smaller French ones (often called Epagneul Bretons picrel) come in a wider range of coloration and tend to have more ticking on their coats. The Brittany club is a bit of a rarity because they seem to have avoided the split between show and bench lines better than pretty much any other breed. They have more dual champions in confirmation and field trials than any other breed. God tier /out/ breed.
