Dear /homegrowmen/,
I'm the same asshat that's posted about my bamboo progress in every other thread.
My bamboo has taken root nicely on my land and is holding up very well in full sunlight (expected of the species in my location) but I have a question for anyone who knows anything about bamboo;
The rhizome (Phyllostachys, runner type) continuously springs out of the ground for some reason. My plants began sending runners in May and I've had to continuously hand-tilled the soil with a trowel to soften it up to give the bamboo an easier time rooting and encourage undersoil rooting, but every time without fail the rhizome springs from the ground.
Plant #1 is pushing out the most and has two mainline runners with branchoffs, but today I noticed it shot out a tertiary runner that is now growing 45* out of the original rhizome towards the sky.
Is there any way to "fix" this other than till up fucking everything and put the rhizome back in the ground (easier after tilling) when it springs up, also hoping it stays in the soft soil rather than pushing up to the path of least resistance?
Thanks for listening, /homegrowmen/
