National parks take up LESS THAN 5% of the public land in the western US, and even LESS of its forested areas. You can fly 200 miles in a cesna over Arizona alone and not leave forested landscapes below you. Colorado and New Mexico have even more forest than AZ in area, and UT has more in percentage. You've never even looked at a map I bet.
