I basically use it as a glass crankbait style rod for really small bfs style hardbaits, chatterbaits, and spinners. some crappie rods make really good ultralight rods, but people don't buy them for that because they don't say "ultralight." bend goes all the way to the first two guides with minimal effort, then the backbone is much stronger than your typical ultralight. I guess that's why they call them "medium light." Makes sense considering Crappie get pretty big and their lips tear easily. Handles 4lb bass no problem. Haven't caught much bigger than that but plenty of them. You can make some serious fish fighting mistakes, high-sticking, you name it and the fish still stay pinned.
