There are some awesome outdoor destinations in grizzly country, but the truth is that unless you're in an area where bears have been habituated to associating humans with a food source - that is, national parks where idiot tourists feed them, leave food out at their campsites, and where they are not allowed to be hunted - almost all bears you encounter in the woods will just run away if you do something as simple as clapping your hands at them... if they don't start running before you even see them.
Of all the bears I've seen in the woods, it has ONLY been the national park bears that hung around after I saw them. All the other bears have just bounded away from me as though I was a lion.
