you should already know if you are a fan of goretex. tends to run in two camps. goretex tends to make the boot take longer to dry out and capable of holding water within layers and rotting it out. it may 'breathe', but it is going to dry out a lot slower than a shell boot or uninsulated that you insulate yourself.
Midsole uses EVA foam. This is the foam people recommend you use for 300-500 miles before the cushioning is gone and needing a replacement. Polyurethane is a much more durable foam. Both foams are subject to hydrolysis, or the premature breakdown of foam accelerated by disuse.
For 3 lbs 8 oz, and $190 i'd choose something else like Redback Everest or a European manufacturer. Merrels is the bottom of quality. Their quality isn't what it was 10 years ago. Probably made by a kid the age you could have hatched.
