>>319233>D2 or S30VD2 has massive carbides. it is physically incapable of holding a fine edge. here is a comparison picture of D2 and AEB-L. D2 is on the top. the white globs are carbides. when you form an edge, those huge white globs are not supported well and fall out of the matrix. the remaining part of the edge crumbles away shortly afterwards. AEB-L carbides are super fine and subsequently more supported. I can also post a pic of S30V showing that AEB-L has even finer carbides than that too. it is also many times tougher than S30V.
