Main benefit to car camping along a logging/fire road is that privacy is pretty much a given, no crowds to deal with. Just be sure to bring an extra fuel containers so you can get back, a shovel and a come-along ratchet winch and at least 100 feet of mule tape in case it rains and you get stuck in the mud. You don't have to go very far from your car and it's a good thing to have it close by in case you need to leave in a hurry for whatever reason. The other benefit is that you can bring more/better food and comfort items, like booze. There's loads of good spots out there
