There is a lot of different ways to pop it across the surface, from subtle to frantic, but there are more ways to do it wrong than do it right. When you dial them in and get that topwater explosion though, there is no better feeling of accomplishment. Many lures are like this, from spoons to worms, and even when you are using the right lure, the wrong technique can turn the fish off from your lure. There's a certain artistry involved, much more so with fly fishing, but lure fishing is equally rewarding.
