unless you know for certain what its intentions are, or if the bear whisperer happens to be in your party, you really have to completely guess what the fuck it wants with you.
if it's in self defense/removing a threat you play dead and it poops itself and runs away thinking it got lucky, if it's hungry for your flesh and you play dead it eats you like a a platter of figs, that twitch slightly as they go down.
running is never really an option witha bear, so if for ANY reason a bear decides to investigate you you're fucked. even a friendly inquisitive bear that means no direct harm will pull your limbs off while it investigates the chocolate on your breath
