iktf. I got this cheap flipper off amazon that I love. a large D2 steel blade with a long fine tip and nice handle, but it wont stay shut in my pocket. and I can't get it to stay shut without over tightening it. almost filleted my hand with it while at work. I'm lucky I didn't stab my ass cheek, pretty sure it was open in my back pocket for hours.
you generally wont have problems like that if you shell out the money for the name brand. but I've broken so many knives I'm just scared to spend more than $25 on one. I'm always using them to pry something, unscrew something, sometimes literally hammer it like a chisel.
maybe there is some crazy super knife with the crazy japanese steel and a super hardened titanium handle that I can beat with a hammer all day without damaging it. but it's probably like $500 and I don't need it.
