It was taken from the Wenger design when Victorianox absorbed the superior Wenger
If you can find the old (long out of production) Wenger version of this it has a far superior can opener (I own both)
As for the blade itself the one hand opening design is superior, the button to unlock it is superior, the serrations are in the correct place, and the point at the end is useful if you ever needed it for self defense
Carried mine (wenger) for over a decade, use it daily, beaten to shit and still ticking
There are rangergrips with no serrations if that's what you want
