You need to hike out or you’ll be hiking at night with kids >they say other way is too far and they want to back up the steep way to get out faster, also ask for water. >we pump some more water and fill their packs and bottles>kids look tired, skinny lady looks nervous, fatty is oblivious to all danger >2 hours later, sun is touching horizon, they fucking walk back through our site>say tubby’s ankles can’t handle switchbacks, ask for a flashlight so they can hike out long way>kids look exhausted after hiking back and forth all day, thin lady still silent and scared>dad pulls fatty aside and chews her out and says get your fat ass out of here for your kids sake. >they head off into the woods at night >now 8pm or so, climb into tent to sleep>later hear a helicopter fly over and a spotlight pans over our site. >mfw I realize we could be the last people they saw before dying and they have a flashlight with my fingerprints on itNever heard of they made it out, though probably would have heard if they didn’t.
