If you see a bear wave your arms and make it aware of your presence, they're more scared of you than you are of them. Also- word of widom, don't bring a firearm or bear spray, they'll smell it the moment you come into the woods and run right for you.
The age old myth of a bear line is completely false. The best strategy to keep the feisty ones away from your food is to leave it out in the middle of your campsite (where any self-respecting bear wouldn't dare paw around).
