>>503853>>503841I'm going to second the Kelty Redwing. When I was an outfitter and someone came in looking for a sort of "one pack to rule them all" I almost always sent them out the door with a Redwing. Affordable, durable, comes in 44l and 50l.
You might also check out the REI Trail 40. It's new, but it's got a pretty clean look to it and REI packs are usually pretty solid. I've got it's predecessor, the Lookout 40 and it's my go-to pack for a lot of applications.
You can usually snag a Condor 3-day assault pack from most surplus stores for 90-100ish bucks. Definitely good for B.O.B but might be a bit huge for every day use.
