Seriously. If you can look past the fact that it's milsurp, it'd soon become your favorite. You could carry a canteen/nalgene+1/2 meal/snack bars/other trail snack, and hold your jacket/rain poncho as well. (For a day hike, or just going a slight distance away from camp.)
