though i do lose flies once in a while steelhead fishing because i only have a t8 sink tip so in shallower water. . .
>>1219279yeah, it's a common mod
>>1219290most fish finders aren't used strictly to find fish, more to find structure. sometimes you'll see fish but most of the time you are looking for a drop off, tree, rockpile, etc, and then just trusting fish to be on it
>>1219267depends on what you want to do. if you want to catch sharks and rays and shit out of the surf, get a daiwa crossfire 5000 or a sweepfire 5000 depending on budget and a daiwa beefstick 10 or 12 foot spinning rod, spool it with #20 mono (you should be able to get 200 yards easy, i reccomend having a tackle shop spool you with suffix tritanium, it's solid stuff) then put a #50 shock leader on there with an albright knot. the combo should run you about $60 and i used it to catch pic related.
if you are after a smaller, lighter combo for spot, pompano, small bluefish, and similar fish, i would reccomend you get a 3000 size of the same reel and either the 7 foot beefstick surf rod or the 8 foot daiwa ft surf rod (the model number is FTS802MFS ) though i have no experience with the lighter beefstick or any of the daiwa FT rods
