You can approach such positions through having one specialization, or multiple.>If you’re tough enough for trail work, it’s not hard to get hired into the NPS or FS as a WG-3 if you’ve got any dirt-grubbing in your work history. I've heard of a few of these jobs, but they were always under "forestry technician (wilderness)" or "wilderness ranger" and got cut halfway through the season. The folks got folded into the local t2ia crew.
