>>927583Wut size and weight is the rod and reel? I think 50lb braid is about the same diameter as 14lb mono so if the reel says "14lb-140yds" then theoretically it should be close to that. But if you leave some mono on it, that will cut down. Plus those line capacities always seem to be ~20% higher so I would guess if the reel claims 140yds, you would get 110-120yds including the backing.
And mono backing isn't anything fancy. Make sure you tie a good knot and then spool a few yds so the mono covers the whole spool and knot in a couple layers. And a mono leader would probably be more of a shock leader in that case but with 50lb braid I wouldn't even worry about it unless you are launching like 1/2lb+ weights.
