The biggest continuous dark patch in the southwest is centered right on the Texas border with Mexico. Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, New Mexico, and Montana all have nice continuous patches as well. Commiefornia is dogshit on the other hand. The only place in the state as remote as the Texas backcountry is Death Valley, and even that is quite close to Las Vegas. There’s no real wilderness there when everything is that crowded. Doesn’t matter how high the mountains are. Remoteness > elevation
