A common canard is that it's due to soil acidity, yet go to some very fertile limestone areas of Assynt in the NW Highlands, a rainy, mild for the latitude maritime climate, still no trees, plenty of deer though.
>>2380770I didn't actually say rich people caused this, the cutting of wood for burning and agriculture is what deforested it before the modern period, but where other comparable countries have got their land management sorted out ages ago, here the land ownership/management is the same fucked up thief run system of centuries ago, resulting in what we have now. See Norway for an alternative example, similar geography, harsher climate and yet their forests manage to regenerate because they have half decent land management.
