There were some great /out/ rec threads a while ago, and I'm getting into outdoors recording myself. Planning to make a parabolic microphone to connect to my Olympus WS-853 recorder I got for Christmas.

Any Anons wanna contribute? I would love advice for complete beginners.

In my last 2 /out/ings I've noticed a high pitched rattling sound that accompanies wind noise or loud thunder.
Weird thing: I couldn't recreate this effect at home.
Finally realize that tripod is necessary to duplicate field conditions.
Grab the cheap tripod and it rattles in my hand.
