You can throw it into pretty much any pasta or rice dish, or it eat it solo, cold or cooked. And it keeps fine in a backpack.
As to the potted noodles etc., maybe it goes without saying but you should decant these from the pots into ziplocks or ideally, vacuum sealed bags. This also allows you to add your spices and and seasonings to your meals before you even meaning, meaning you don't need to carry them with you.
