sythetic is a petroleum product, it does not decay or become chemically unbalanced when interacting with moisture and oils, such as down does.
down really is a total bitch to work with. its really not practical for outdoor use and even if you keep down perfectly dry and clean, the feathers will begin to decay as they are not being kept alive by the animal anymore. have you ever kept a bird feather? they definitely become much more brittle after several years... not really sure what exactly is your retarded problem is.
