Hey fellow growers, do any of you have asparagus advice? I transplanted two chunks of asparagus roots from the wild in the fall of 2018. Last year both came up initally but one died off before long. The second I just left, didn't cut and let it go to seed.
This year that second patch has started sprouting again but it's looking similar to the first patch that died last year. Two big strong shoots came up, about the thickness of my thumb. A third looked like it was about to but then hasn't formed.
Any advice on what to do with them? Should I cut it back or is it better to leave them to just grow on their own another year? I'm not in a rush to harvest this year, I'd more like it to grow into a good strong patch.
