>>515966sure you wont die but if you want to optimize your nutrition and save a shitload of cash you can. which will lead to optimal performance, more energy and less stress and more cash to buy other gear or go more places. seriously since ive stopped buying gear i go camping twice a month now. its barely more expensive than eating at home.
the weight difference really isnt that much i could easily carry 3 backpacking if i did much of it. the only concern is to not pierce the package, there is sauce in frozen form inside that will melt and the packages are cheap sometimes.
the only way id go full dehydrated is if i was doing some appalachian trail or what have you size of trip. even then i would try to find grocery stores to restock at so as to eat as little dehydrated as possible.
they also come in various sizes, if in a group you could buy the 4 person meals which could easily save over 30 dollars in one meal.
they are also gourmet as shit, with some spaghetti sauce spices you could mix it in with pic related and be literally right at home eating innawoods. frozen food is second in nutritional value only to fresh food, and in many cases is the highest grade one can find(like frozen peas)
