>>1282952You're welcome, it's been my only real experience in a SHTF scenario, though one thing I did notice in my neighborhood after Ike was a common camaraderie, neighbors helping each other chop up fallen trees and hauling limbs / brush piles to the street. The entire neighborhood was a-buzz with the sounds of 4 cycle engines plugging away keeping fridges running. Local Red Cross came out and doled out meals around noon every day, it was idyllic in a strange / surreal way.
Still living in the Houston area, thankfully Harvey didn't flood my ass out, but I did pick up a generator at the only place that had any left in stock within reasonable driving distance the Saturday he rolled into town: Harbor Freight. LOL
I'm gonna pick up a more reliable brand and keep the HF one as a backup, been reliable so far but man having to rely on HF equipment in a time of crisis just seems way too sketchy for my liking. Looking at taking a trip to Lowes and buying the Cat RP3600 (pic related) for hurricane season, just need something to run a fridge, window unit, and oscillating fan: that more than foots the bill.
