>>1472111that sounds delicious. if you get the heat and cooking time right it would be amazing, i bet the taste of bread of smoky coals would be nice.
also, your dumpling idea reminds me of the polish dumplings (kluski) i make to cure my hangovers:
>few heaping spoonfuls of flour>couple eggs (safely store in yellow egg suitcase)>chicken stock cubes>water>get ~1 litre of water on the fire with a couple stock cubes>whisk 2 eggs together with a fork and add a drop of water>salt>drop in a couple towering heaped tablespoons of flour and stir in with fork until combined>add more flour one or two spoonfuls at a time until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl and ball up>DON'T overwork it, just mix enough so it's not too lumpy>dip spoon in now boiling stock to get it wet and hot>scoop half spoonfuls of dough and submerge them into the boiling broth so they drop off the spoon>repeat until you use up all the dough>boil until the noodles stop expanding, about another 4minsi know it sounds simple but it's absolutely amazing, the texture is perfect and the dough is great with chicken broth. plus it's great for /out/ because it's simple, high in calories and protein, and the broth is quite hydrating. also i tend to toss in some very thinkly sliced onion toward the end and any leafy green is perfect (spinach right before you serve or kale early on so it boils awhile, etc). if you want to go more authentic polish some chopped leek is just about perfect in this.
pic is from google but i make this about once a week.
