Why do so many hunters come up with so many retarded "arguments" to justify why they hunt?

If I am to be honest, I don't hunt to:
>Control the animal population>Procure meat (although I would never eat an animal I shot to rot)>Get in touch with nature>Increase my fitnessNo, I hunt because I like it. I think it's fun. I like the thrill of it. And I think it's the same for everyone else. Am I wrong? Why make stupid arguments to please a crowd that'll never be pleased anyway?
