>>2050381I actually went with a couple of friends a month ago, we got my friend's sister to drop us off next to a fire access trail and we hiked in for a few hours. Finding a site isn't too hard if you aren't looking for perfection, we found a spot to set up a tent and fire pretty quick, the fire was on a bit of an incline but it sort of melted it's own fire pit into the snow so it was fine.
my advice for you would be:
- use the Ontario crown land atlas
- either find a good place to park your car or get a friend to drop you off
- if you go winter camping having a sled to carry gear is awesome
- gathering deadwood is legal, live wood usually isn't, try to find standing deadwood
- saw is more important than axe
