I don't really define it any particular way, but I typically do something like this:
>Hike or canoe at least 4-5 miles away from nearest road
>Usually with 1-2 others but have done solo
>Spend 2-3 nights backpacking, fishing, hiking and exploring
>Sleep under open sky, but have a tarp for emergencies
>Pack as little as possible, mostly just food, Ruger 10/22 rifle or 12ga SG, sleeping bag/pad, knife, canteen/cup, flashlight, survival stuff
>Food: trail mix, nuts, jerky, spam, hardboiled eggs, canned high cal meals
>Comfort items: a frozen steak, couple beers, fly rod, bundle of firewood and a folding chair for canoe trips, bow saw and small axe for cold weather trips, candles.
>The less contact with and evidence of other humans the better
>Pic related, canoe trip last April
