There's a "cargo rack" integrated to the topcase that takes bungee hooks, where I put my pack for longer trips.
I actually haven't taken this bike /out/ yet. Traded in my old one hastily, and this is our first spring together. I'm thinking I'll try a forest service road first, leading to an "overabundant lake", after the pass reopens.
Do you ride? How terrible an idea is a V4 on a dirt road?
