Some of them make lower heel models. I have been to White's back in the day. They will measure your feet. Their arch ease design works fairly well, but if you plan on using these with a thick pair of socks, 2 pairs of socks, or an insole, it is a good idea to get measured if you can. Make sure to include those accommodations.
And if you are doing long distance trekking, you will be thankful to have less weight .
The rough out leather will be more slash resistant, but absorb water easier.
