>>1792927Here is my very compact living wall of pigeon peas, planted 1.5 ft apart, heavily pruned as of a couple days as evidenced by the branches in the foreground.
There are two types of Pigeon Peas I know: small dwarf bushes, and small trees. These are the tree variety, and they make excellent firewood, have highly aromatic leaves which make good mulch, leaf mould, and compost. Not to mention, pea yield is intense and makes for many joyful hours of pea shelling and many good dishes of Arroz con Gandules. The tree varieties would work excellent for your idea. I’ve a tropical climate, so these are essentially perennial, though they topple from heavy storms at around 4 years old or dry up for some reason sometimes.
